A clear demonstration of why a water audit expert should monitor your water bills by using AMR.

Water leaks either above or below ground will have a serious impact on your water and waste water charges. In this particular case this customer employed another less experienced water consultant and they fitted water flow data loggers (AMR) to their sites in Scotland which was an excellent idea. I fully endorse on-line monitoring to drive down water charges and monitor the sites in case of water leaks or bursts which will impact on future water charges.

However, in this instance the less experienced water consultancy (who I shall not name for professional reasons) failed to set up an alarm to report exceptional flow or indeed carry out any monitoring as the water flow data logger ceased to operate and during the down period used over £ 28,000 worth of water in one month, the previous charges were £ 1,000.

In this case the water company bill monthly, had they billed quarterly or indeed estimated Q1 and Q2 then read the meter the water and waste water bill would have been £ 84,000 over the monthly budget.
