Thames Water is to transfer all its business customers in England and Scotland to Castle Water.

Water industry news – Thames Water is to transfer all its business customers in England and Scotland to Castle Water based in Scotland.

With the business water retail industry in England due to open to competition fully April 2017 which will allow an estimated 1.2 million business customers and none-household customers based wholly in England to be able to switch water supplier for their water and waste water services.

This move will apparently allow Castle Water to play to their greatest strength, which is in providing water and waste water retail services tailored specifically for business customers on a national basis.

It will allow Thames Water to focus more on other services and therefore to hive off the troublesome costly area of their operation will be good for Thames Water, but to a 2 year old water company based in Scotland ?

It remains to be seen, certainly for a small very young company to take on Portsmouth Water business customers and now Thames Water’s, including of course Thames Water’s Scottish customers would seem like commercial suicide and not in the interests of business customers.
