At H2O we use your water bills to analyse your water consumption and ensure that you are paying the correct amount to your water supplier.
Ofwat are the regulatory body for the water industry for both domestic and non-domestic sectors, but it is the water companies which send you your water bill each month.
How is your water bill worked out?
Your monthly bill will vary in style depending on your water supplier but they have general guidelines to follow depending on the amount of water you use and whether you have a water meter installed.
If your business uses less than 50MI of water per annum you should be paying the standard non-household water charges which are subject to the price brackets set by Ofwat.
Businesses with a water meter
As a non-household customer you should really have a water meter installed, which means that your water bill will usually include:
- A fixed charge
- A volumetric charge is calculated on the amount of water your business uses.
Business without a water meter
If your business doesn’t have a water metre, we would highly recommend getting one installed. This will allow you to analyse your water usage in more detail which may allow you to save money on your future water bills.
Without a water metre your bills will consist of:
- A standard charge, including customer related cost of supply
- A charge which is related to the value of your business’s property (under the 1973 Valuation Act)
What should your bill consist of?
Your company’s water bill should be a breakdown of your monthly water charges for both your general water consumption as well as your sewerage and drainage charges.
How can we help?
By analysing your water bills we can work out if you are paying the correct amount for your water, and if you’re not we can work out why to ensure you save money in the future.
As well as saving you money in the future we can analyse rules and regulations governing your water supplier to determine if you are entitled to a refund on water bills you have already received and paid.
