How Do I Find My Current Water Supplier?
Now that the English retail water market is open, which happened back in April 2017, businesses are billed by water retailers, instead of regional water companies (which are now known as wholesalers).
You may well have heard from your water company well before the market opened up a few years ago, letting you know which retailer would be serving your specific needs as of April 1st 2017, but if you’re still unsure and want to find out, have a look at your most recent water bill as it should say it on there somewhere.
However, if you’re unable to find a bill or perhaps you’ve recently moved to a new business premises and are unsure of the retailers in the area, get in touch with any retailer and they’ll be able to find out all the information you need on your behalf.
The good news is that you are now able to choose whichever retailer you want to work with and the competitive market means you’re able to negotiate a better deal with your current supplier or move to a new one if you’re unhappy with the service you’re receiving.
There are a range of benefits associated with moving to a new retailer, so it’s certainly worth looking into if you’re keen to reduce your water bills, enjoy better customer service, reduce water wastage (helping the environment at the same time) and take advantage of consolidated billing.
It doesn’t need to be complicated to make the switch and your first step is to review your most recent water bill to see how much water you’re using, how much you’re paying, how you’re paying and your service supply point identification numbers.
From there, you can either try and negotiate a better deal with the supplier you already have or start shopping around to see what else is out there. Once you’ve chosen your new supplier, they will do the rest of the work for you and get in touch when the switching process is complete.
However, with so many new companies coming onto the market all the time, it can be quite overwhelming trying to find the right one to suit your business. If you’d like any help or advice, get in touch with the H2o Building Services team today.
