Switching Water Supplier And Water Self Supply In The English Water Retail Market-And The Scottish Water Market.
There has been a lot of stuff published in the news and social media networks about water deregulation and water self supply over the last few weeks, so I thought it would be useful to produce a short but informative video on water self supply which hopefully will spark interest.
There is nothing new about water self supply (despite what you may read from other water consultants!) in fact its been around since the opening of the Scottish water market 8 years ago, and as a matter of fact and to my knowledge our firm H2o Building Services were the very first to produce water self supply feasibility studies for two supermarket companies for their Scottish water sites, clearly showing very substantial savings on water bills way above the retail offerings from the water companies, well by cutting out the water retailers margin you would of course expect more savings.
Now you may ask why did you not convert these two clients to a water self supply contract?
The answer is this, client number one claimed they were risk averse, and not quite ready yet but respected the fact we were the first firm to bring such an innovative scheme to them out of all the other water consultants
And the other client simply did not fully appreciate or understand the scheme and refused to take my calls or answer Emails, but there was a substantial saving by accessing the wholesale water market and cutting out the retail margin.
The offer incorporated a water strategy and on going water management support and a very interesting water and waste water cost reduction programme with a payback of a few months the overall savings were impressive a great shame the options not accepted
